It has a rugged extruded aluminium enclosure that provides physical protection for the circuitry and can withstand harsh environments in accordance with ISA standard S71.04.
The module is mounted on a modular substrate that can accommodate up to four or eight FBMs, DIN rail mounted or rack mounted, and includes signal connectors for redundant fieldbus, redundant independent DC power supplies, and termination cables.
It has eight analogue input channels, each of which accepts one of the following inputs: a digital HART frequency shift keying (FSK) signal superimposed on a 4 to 20 mA analogue input signal.
The FBM214b HART Communication Input Module contains eight 4 to 20 mA individually isolated analog input channels. It supports any mix of standard 4-20 mA devices and HART devices.
The FBM214b serves as a HART communications field device host, enabling the Foxboro Evo™ system to request and receive two digital messages per second from the field device. The message passthrough capability can be used to support HART universal, common practice, and device-specific commands, but not the burst communication mode.
