The 3500/22M is a Transient Data Interface (TDI) that serves as the interface between the 3500 monitoring system and compatible software, such as the System 1 Condition Monitoring and Diagnostic software and 3500 System Configuration software . The TDI combines the function of a 3500/20 Rack Interface Module (RIM) with the data collection capability of a communication. It is used to collect both steady-state and transient dynamic (waveform) data continuously from M-series monitors (such as 3500/40M, 3500/42M, etc.) and transmit it to the host software via an Ethernet link .

The 3500/22M RIM is the basic interface that connects to the 3500 framework and supports proprietary protocols used for configuration and collecting machine information. The RIM must be installed in the slot of the framework, next to the power module, and provides a connection that supports the current Bently Nevada communication processors (external Transient Data Interface (TDIX) and external Dynamic Data Interface (DDIX)). The RIM uses two types of I/O modules, namely, the framework interface I/O module and the data management I/O module, to connect the main computer and communication processor to the 3500 framework. Only one framework interface I/O module can be installed behind the RIM (disk-mounted or frame-mounted framework) or on top of the RIM (wall-mounted framework) at a time .

There are two effective types of framework interface I/O modules for the 3500 monitoring system: RS-232/RS-422 I/O module and modem I/O module. Both types of I/O modules have the same features, including the ability to connect the main computer and communication processor to the 3500 framework, support for proprietary protocols, and the ability to connect to external TDIX and DDIX .

The 3500/22M is used for large mechanical vibration monitoring and protection systems . It is a critical component of the 3500 system, which offers a wide range of mechanical measurement parameter selections and software configurations suitable for almost all mechanical monitoring scenarios. The 3500 system must be equipped with a 3500/05 frame, 3500/15 power supply, and 3500/22M RIM. The 3500/15 power supply has several options, including low-voltage AC (85-132 Vac rms), high-voltage AC (175-264 Vac rms), high-voltage DC (88-140 Vdc), low-voltage DC (20-30 Vdc), and universal AC power supply (85-264 Vac rms) .
