TRICONEX 3806E is a high-performance analog output module widely used in the field of industrial automation. It belongs to the Triconex Trident safety instrumented system series, adopts Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) technology, is certified by SIL 3, and complies with IEC 61508/61511 standards, ensuring safe and reliable operation of the system. Output Type and Quantity: There are 8 output points in total, including 2 channels with an output range of 20-320mA and 6 channels with an output range of 4-20mA.
Output Accuracy: Within the normal range of 4-20mA, the accuracy is less than 0.25% of the full scale (2-21.2mA) (32°F to 140°F/0°C to 60°C); within the normal range of 20-320mA, the accuracy is less than 0.25% of the full scale (20-339.2mA) (0°C to 60°C).

Power Supply Specifications:
External Loop Power Supply: Must be provided externally, with reverse voltage protection. The maximum voltage is +42.5VDC, and the nominal voltage is +24VDC. There are Pwr1 and Pwr2 indicators on the module to display the loop power supply status.
Load Capacity:
For 4-20mA output: At 20VDC, the load ≤ 275Ω; at 24VDC, the load ≤ 475Ω; at 28VDC, the load ≤ 650Ω; at 32VDC, the load ≤ 825Ω.
For 20-320mA output: At 20VDC, the load ≤ 15Ω; at 24VDC, the load ≤ 25Ω; at 28VDC, the load ≤ 40Ω; at 32VDC, the load ≤ 50Ω.
Diagnostic and Protection Functions:
Loop Detection: Each channel and each point is equipped with two independent current loopback circuits, which are used for hardware voting, verifying signal accuracy and actual current. If there is current in a non-selected channel, the channel will be shut down immediately.
Fault Diagnosis: Continuous diagnosis is performed on each channel. If a fault is diagnosed, the module's Fault status indicator and chassis alarm signal will be activated. The module can operate normally under a single-point fault and may also operate normally under some multi-point faults.
Other Features: Supports hot standby function, allowing online replacement of faulty modules; the module is equipped with a mechanical key to prevent incorrect installation in the chassis.
Working Principle and Functions
Signal Processing: It receives output signals from the main processors of the three channels, votes on each set of data, and then selects a healthy channel to drive the output.
Loop Detection: Each point of each channel is equipped with two independent current loopback circuits, which are read by other channels as part of the hardware voting process.
The first circuit verifies the accuracy and existence of the analog signal at each point, independent of the presence of a load or channel selection.
The second circuit verifies the actual current flow at each point from the selected channel. If current flow is detected at any point of a non-selected channel, that channel will be shut down immediately.
Self-Monitoring and Calibration: It monitors its own current output (as input voltage) and maintains an internal voltage reference, providing self-calibration and module health information.
Diagnostic Functions: Each module performs complete and continuous diagnostics on each channel. Any failure of any diagnostic test on any channel will activate the module's Fault status indicator and the chassis alarm signal. The Fault status indicator indicates a channel fault, not a module fault. The module is guaranteed to operate normally in the presence of a single fault and may continue to operate normally in the case of multiple faults.
Hot Standby Function: Supports online replacement of faulty modules.
Installation Protection: Like all I/O modules, it requires a separate field termination assembly, which is connected to the Tricon controller backplane through a cable interface, and has a mechanical key to prevent improper installation in a configured chassis.
