Emerson SLS1508 KJ2201X1-BA1 12P3162X112 DeltaV™ SIS Logic Solver SLS 1508.The Emerson SLS 1508 Logic Solver has the logic-solving capability and provides an interface for 16 input/output (I/O) channels. These channels can be configured as discrete inputs, discrete outputs, analog inputs (using the HART protocol), and HART two-state output channels. The Logic Solver and the termination block are installed on an 8-wide carrier.
The Logic Solvers communicate with each other via the carrier, using a two-channel local peer bus (SISnet) and a remote peer ring. Local Logic Solvers are hosted by the same DeltaV controller, while remote Logic Solvers are hosted by different DeltaV controllers. The Logic Solvers are powered by a 24V DC power supply, which is independent of the power supply that drives the DeltaV controller and I/O. The Logic Solvers are installed in the odd-numbered slots (1, 3, 5, 7) of the 8-wide carrier. Redundant Logic Solvers occupy four slots.DeltaV SLS 1508 Logic Solvers are installed in redundant pairs for increased process availability of your SIS loops.
Data Sheet:
Redundant SLS 1508 Logic Solvers operate in parallel at all times.
Both read inputs from the I/O terminals, execute the logic, and drive the outputs at the I/O terminals. There is no concept of primary and backup or master and slave, which is different from any other SIS. The only difference between the two is that one communicates with both the engineering and operator workstations and the dedicated safety network (SISNet); this is the one with the "Active" light on the bezel. The other (the "Standby" one) only communicates on the SISNet.
In the event that a failure is detected in one of the SLS 1508 Logic Solvers, it automatically enters a failed state. In this situation, all its output channels are de - energized; this has no impact on the other SLS 1508 Logic Solver or the physical outputs because the other SLS 1508 Logic Solver continues to read inputs, execute logic, and drive outputs. Therefore, the transition from redundant mode to simplex mode is completely bumpless.
